* CALLING W5RRR *
=================
Paul, KC4VBT, reports that on Sunday, the 14th of February, during Mir's
40,000th orbit, R2MIR was heard calling W5RRR first on voice, and then
by packet:
14-Feb-93 13:23:58 R2MIR*>W5RRR [C,P]
14-Feb-93 13:24:04 R2MIR*>W5RRR [C,P]
and then attempted to connect with the JSC's PBBS
14-Feb-93 13:25:06 R2MIR*>W5RRR-1 [C,P]
14-Feb-93 13:25:11 R2MIR*>W5RRR-1 [C,P]
On 18-Feb-93, Dave, N6JLH received the following message via the packet
mailbox on Mir:

Which translates to:
Dave! Good morning!
Thanks for MESSAGES about NASA program to use ham radio on
shuttle missions.
Our cosmonauts Kriklew and Titow are in Houston (sp? I
think, he meant this large city in TX -EAS) training and preparing
for Shuttle flight.
We'd like to talk to them using ham radio, but W5RRR doesn't
answer our calls.
dw, help, please, to get through to them.
ALEX 73.
Maybe if there is someone at W5RRR reading this, they could listen for
R2MIR on future passes.
* STS-55 LAUNCH DELAY *
=======================
Launch of STS-55 and Space Shuttle Columbia has been postponed from
25-Feb-93 until 06-Mar-93. STS-55 will be the first Shuttle mission this
year to include a SAREX package.
* SpaceNews NEWS *
==================
I often receive requests asking permission to post SpaceNews on various
bulletin boards and computer networks. As mentioned in an earlier issue
of SpaceNews, this publication is distributed free of charge and is made
available for unlimited distribution. The only request I make is that NO
CHARGE be made to users of computer bulletin boards or networks to read
SpaceNews. After all, SpaceNews is a public service, and the author makes
absolutely no money for generating these bulletins.
* FEEDBACK/INPUT WELCOMED *
